Functional Trainer
Lat Pulldown/Low Row
Rack Cable Attachment Builder
OVERVIEW
The Ares™ attachment is known as a leader in the fitness world as the best, fully integrated functional trainer and lat pulldown/low row that attaches right onto your power rack. But our Colorado-based engineering team wanted to make the best even better. Inspired by customer feedback and our relentless growth mindset, meet the Ares™ 2.0 cable attachment.
INTEGRATION, UNILATERAL & BILATERAL TRAINING, TWO ATHLETES
Like the original, the Ares™ 2.0 attachment connects to your existing PR-4000 or PR-5000 power rack, saving major space by bringing a ton more versatility and cable exercises inside the rack, while preserving the original functionality of the rack. The Ares™ 2.0 attachment features dual 260lb selectorized weight stacks that can be upgraded to 310lbs each (feels like 155lbs each). This allows for both unilateral and bilateral training. This feature utilizing swivel pulleys is typically found on high-end commercial machines, but we've integrated it into the Ares™ at a more accessible price point, without compromising its premium functionality. In addition, the independent stacks allow two athletes to train on the Ares™ cables simultaneously with separate resistance levels for each, or a single athlete to superset exercises off each trolley without having to change weights between each set.
HIGHER LOW ROW & NEW FOOTPLATE DESIGN
The Ares™ 2.0 attachment features an integrated lat pulldown feature, as well as a seated row, which is new for the 2.0. This slightly higher cable point is more comfortable and functional than a low row and allows you to sit on a bench or the floor; it's your choice. Use the lat and seated row cables for unilateral exercises, as well as standard straight-bar movements. The improved footplate design is angled at the top to provide support while sitting on a bench and adjusts for multiple starting points for better foot positioning. The footplate is also wider on the 2.0 for more comfort and versatility, with the cables in the middle of your feet rather than outside like the original. Lastly, there is a cutout on the sides so you can perfectly center your REP bench (AB-5200 2.0, BlackWing™ adjustable bench, AB-3000 2.0) deeper in the rack for both incline and flat bench exercises. We also rotated the weight stacks 90 degrees and pushed them farther back to create even more usable space inside the rack for benching and use of the Safety Squat Bar.
SMOOTH FEEL & BROADER RANGE OF MOTION
The patent-pending Ares™ 2.0 attachment features trolleys that are designed with a smooth, plastic liner that’s easy to adjust up and down with one hand. We also moved the swiveling front trolley pulleys a couple more inches further out which provides a greater range of motion that’s more comparable to a traditional, stand-alone functional trainer. This also provides a greater range of motion that’s more comparable to a traditional, stand-alone functional trainer. The front and lat/seated row pulleys all swivel, making movements more versatile and ergonomic, a feature only seen on high-end commercial cable machines. The upgraded cables have a thinner coating that creates a smoother feel. Hot-rolled steel plates with a machined finish assure consistent and durable weights that the magnetized pin slides into smoothly.
We built the Ares™ 2.0 attachment for functionality first. It utilizes a 2:1 cable ratio, which means 100lbs feels like 50lbs, ideal for functional training when you want a faster-traveling cable. Better functionality is also why we switched the resting position of the front trolleys; when not in use, you now store them at the bottom of the uprights, rather than the top on the original Ares™ attachment. This creates more usable space on the rack upright at the top, which is important for those that choose the 80" upright height and want to press or squat outside of the rack.
The Ares™ 2.0 comes with a lat pulldown bar; two clips to connect them to the stack cables; and four fully knurled D-handle attachments and two integrated drop-down 5lb add-on weights (that feel like 2.5lbs) for more weight jump options. To maximize your Ares™ 2.0's potential, we strongly recommend buying the Performance Cable Package and checking out the other cable attachments. Finally, depending on what series rack you get, we recommend getting either two of the 5000 Series Leg Rollers or one of the 4000 Series Leg Rollers, so you can be locked in while doing lat pull downs.
Mount the Ares™ 2.0 attachment to a ton of rack configurations: the PR-4000 6-post 16:16, 24:16, 30:16, or 41:16; the PR-4000 4-post 16; the PR-5000 6-post 16:16, 30:16, or 41:16; and the PR-5000 4-post 16. Newly designed brackets (coming soon) enable Ares™ 2.0 attachment 4-post configurations to include a straight pull-up bar. Get the ultimate upgrade for your home or commercial gym's power rack with the Ares™ 2.0 cable attachment.
Note: The Ares™ 2.0 attachment 4-post needs Mini Front Foot Extensions off the front and back or needs to be bolted down. If you prefer to bolt down your rack, you can delete the Mini Front Foot Extensions from your cart.
Original Ares™ attachment vs. Ares™ 2.0 attachment
•Higher attachment point of seated row•Seated row pulleys spaced closer together for ease of attachment use and better feel

PRODUCT FEATURES
-
Patent-Pending Design
Light and smooth trolleys with a knurled handle and oversized pop-pin are easy to move with one hand, but strong enough to handle heavy weight. They're lined with a special plastic to protect your upright. -
Pulleys and Cables
The Ares™ 2.0 attachment features aluminum pulleys with custom retainers for a smoother pull. All pulleys have a 180-degree swivel for versatility and the ability to work outside the rack, and the 2.0 cables have a thinner coating that creates a smoother feel. -
Dual Weight Stacks
Dual selectorized weight stacks can be uprgraded to 310lbs each (feels like 155lbs each) and allow for unilateral and bilateral training without compromising cable length like with a single weight stack. Another advantage over a single stack is that your pull feels even because both hands aren't fighting to move the same stack. Weight stacks are turned 90 degrees and sit farther set back so there's more space inside the rack for incline bench and other movements. -
Lat and Seated Row Feature
The Ares™ 2.0 attachment features both an integrated lat pulldown, as well as a seated row. This slightly higher cable point is more comfortable and functional than a low row and allows you to sit on a bench or the floor; your choice. Use the lat and seated row cables for isolation exercises, as well as standard, straight-bar movements. -
Attachments and Additions
The Ares™ 2.0 attachment comes with a lat pulldown bar; two clips to connect them to the stack cables; and four fully knurled D-handle attachments – and it’s compatible with a wide range of other cable attachments. It also comes with two, integrated 5lb add-on weights (that feel like 2.5lbs) for more weight jump options. -
Improved Footplate
The new footplate design adjusts for multiple starting points; is much wider for more comfort and versatility; and is cut out on the sides so you can perfectly center your bench deeper in the rack for both incline and flat bench exercises. -
Compatibility
Mount the Ares™ 2.0 attachment to a ton of rack configurations: the PR-4000 6-post 16:16, 24:16, 30:16, or 41:16; the PR-4000 4-post 16; the PR-5000 6-post 16:16, 30:16, or 41:16; and the PR-5000 4-post 16.

FAQS
-
What exercises can I do on the Ares™ 2.0 attachment? The number of cable exercises you can perform is long, but just to name a few: bicep curls, tricep pushdowns, tricep extensions, standing or seated chest flies, rear delt flies, lateral leg raises, donkey kicks, lateral and frontal arm raises, rehab/prehab shoulder work, mid rows (on the floor or on a bench), low rows (by sitting on a bench), lat pulldowns, wood chops, face pulls, chest press, belt squats with our attachment, and since there are so many attachment points, it is easy to superset between exercises. .
-
Which power racks are compatible with the Ares™ 2.0 attachment?Only the PR-4000 and PR-5000 power racks are compatible with the Ares™ 2.0 attachment. For the PR-4000, you need to have the 16” crossmembers with vertical holes. Please reach out to Support via our contact us form with any questions, comments, or concerns. PR-5000 owners should verify they own the most updated version of the PR-5000 power rack, which has 1” holes along the upright, whereas the original version has alternating 5/8” holes and 1” holes. The Ares™ 2.0 attachment is not compatible with any flat-footed rack configuration, and we will not be creating an attachment for them: Omni, Apollo™, or original HR-5000.
-
What rack configurations will the Ares™ 2.0 attachment fit on?
* The PR-4000 6-post rack with 16", 24", 30", or 41" crossmembers in the front with 16" crossmembers in the back.
* The PR-4000 4-post rack with only the 16" crossmembers.
* The PR-5000 6-post rack with 16", 30", or 41" crossmembers in the front with 16" crossmembers in the back.
* The PR-5000 4-post rack with only the 16” crossmembers.
-
What is the weight capacity on the trolley and cables?
The weight capacity for both the cable and the trolleys is 450lbs.
-
What is the benefit of storing the trolleys at the bottom versus the top of an upright?
Storing trolleys at the bottom of an upright allows you to have a greater range of height placement for attachments. When you store them at the top of the upright, it takes away from attachment (i.e. J-cup) height options, especially on 80" racks.
-
How are the cables routed compared with the original Ares™?
The cable orientation to the trolleys is reversed from the original Ares™, allowing more room and higher attachment points for J-cups and other attachments. .
-
How much do the weight stacks weigh? The weight stacks are 260lbs each with the option to upgrade them to 310lbs each. They also come with labels that tell you how the weight stacks feel for ease of use. No math required.
-
Do I need to bolt down my rack with the Ares™ 2.0 attachment ?The Ares™ 2.0 attachment 6-post configuration will not need to be bolted down. However, we always recommend bolting the rack down for safety. With the 4-post Ares™ 2.0 attachment, you will either need to bolt it down or use Mini Front Foot Extensions off the front and back of the rack. If you prefer to bolt down your rack, you can delete the Mini Front Foot Extensions from your cart.
-
What if I cut out holes in my mats for the uprights?
You will also need to clear a section in the back so the Ares™ 2.0 components can rest on the floor.
-
If I eventually change the depth of my rack, will my Ares™ 2.0 attachment still work? You will need to change your cable length if you change the depth of your rack. Cable packages can be sold separately so you can upgrade.
-
Will there be a plate-loaded version of the Ares™ 2.0 attachment?
We are working on quite a few cable attachment options, including plate-loaded and selectorized, but they may not look exactly like the Ares™ 2.0 attachment. We do not currently have any public release dates for these new products..
-
Is there a difference in functionality between the 80" and 93" upright height options?
The 80" upright height option has a shorter range of motion for lat pulldowns, trolley height adjustments, and attachment height adjustments. This is due to the 80" rack being shorter than the 93" rack.
-
Do I need a specific color of uprights?
Not necessarily. While the matte black finish does have some texture, the trolleys will still work just fine. But the trolley will work best on our other finishes.
-
Can you use other cable attachments with the Ares™ 2.0 attachment?Yes, check out our cable attachments collection. Note: The headplate was designed to be light enough for lifters wanting to perform rehab motions like rotator cuff work. To keep the headplate from rising during weight adjustment, we recommend attachments on the front handles weighing less than 3.5lbs, or lightly press on the headplate while adjusting the pin if you're using a heavier attachment.
-
What else should I consider getting with my Ares™ 2.0 attachment? We recommend getting additional cable attachments, as well as upgrading the Ares™ 2.0 attachment weight stacks.
-
What if I already own a Lat Pulldown & Low Row attachment? The Ares™ 2.0 system completely replaces our current plate-loaded or selectorized lat pulldown and low row attachment with a selectorized lat pulldown and seated row and functional trainer system all in one. (“Selectorized” refers to your ability to select the desired weight with a pin.)
-
Does the Ares™ 2.0 attachment work with a Rear Base Stabilizer?
No, the Ares™ 2.0 attachment completely replaces the Rear Base Stabilizer.
-
Is the Ares™ 2.0 cable attachment compatible with the Compact Logo Plate Crossmember?Yes, but you will need to remove the REP logo plate itself to install the Ares™ 2.0 attachment. This logo plate can be reattached to another crossmember of your choosing.
-
Are any pull-up bars not compatible with Ares™ 2.0 attachment? The Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar is not compatible with the 16” + 16” crossmember configuration. The globe grip is not compatible with the 41” front crossmember + 16” back crossmember configuration. The globe grip was updated in 2020. The older version will not work with any configuration of the Ares™ 2.0 attachment. The 4-post configuration is compatible with our new mounting brackets (coming soon) that will allow you to mount a straight pull-up bar.
-
Will the MSS 2.0 72" Dumbbell & Kettlebell Storage Shelf work with the Ares 2.0?
Yes, but the MSS 2.0 72" Dumbbell & Kettlebell Storage Shelf will not work on the lower portion of a rack with the Ares 2.0 due to the mounting brackets required to attach the shelf. The shelf will need to be attached anywhere above the Ares 2.0 shroud.
-
Can I use the Pegasus™ with the Ares™?
The Pegasus™ attachment will mount to the front uprights. Lifters will not be able to use if for the lat pulldown portion.
-
Can I use the ISO Arms?Yes! The Ares™ 2.0 attachment doesn’t interfere with the ISO Arms attachment, so you have plenty of space to do ISO rows, deadlifts, squats, a variety of presses, belt squats, monolift bench presses, banded jumps, and more.
-
Can I use the Belt Squat?
Yes! The Ares™ 2.0 attachment doesn’t affect the functionality of the Belt Squat attachment. So in addition to belt squats, you can do weighted pull-ups, hip thrusts, rack pulls, rows, deadlifts, dips, Bulgarian split squats, calf raises, and more.
-
How do I install the Wing Add-On with the Ares™ 2.0 attachment?
Prior to securing the shrouds, it's necessary to mount the 41" shelves. There's a risk that with vigorous movement, the floating pulley might result in collision with these shelves. Please note that 72" shelves are not compatible with this setup.
-
Is the Ares™ 2.0 attachment compatible with other brands of power racks? No. The Ares™ 2.0 attachment was designed for REP brand PR-4000 and PR-5000 series racks. Even if other racks have a 47” rack, there is no standardization across hole patterns, metric measurements, height, thickness of powder coat, etc. We will not guarantee the fit of an Ares™ 2.0 attachment on anything other than a REP rack.
-
How does the Ares™ 2.0 attachment ship? The Ares™ 2.0 attachment ships LTL Freight. A semitrailer will arrive with a wooden crate, and inside the crate, we’ve securely packaged the Ares™ 2.0 attachment in multiple boxes to allow just a single person to bring it into their garage, basement, or gym. We are shipping over 1,000lbs, and this is the most secure and protected way to ship the Ares™ 2.0 attachment to you. If you purchase the Ares™ 2.0 attachment with a rack, weight storage, or additional attachments, those components will ship before the Ares™ 2.0 attachment.
-
What is the difference between the selectorized dual Athena™, the selectorized Lat Pulldown & Low Row, and the Ares™ 2.0 attachment?
Aside from the price point, the Ares™ 2.0 attachment provides a higher weight capacity and the capability for iso-lateral lat pulldowns and low rows. Additionally, the low row height is set at 13" compared with the Lat Pulldown & Low Row. .
-
Can I upgrade my original Ares™ or any of the components to an Ares™ 2.0 attachment?
No, we have updated too many parts and features to transform the original Ares™ into the 2.0 version. No components of the 2.0 will be compatible or made available for the original.
-
Is there a more budget-friendly option?
Yes. Our original Ares™ is.
-
Will there be an updated version of the Ares™ in the future?
At the core of our company lie three fundamental pillars: innovation, customer service, and value. We continuously strive to uphold these principles, ensuring that every REP product and experience maintains its relevance and excellence. There's always the possibility of an updated version for any REP product.
